is the answer 8cm? :) if yes the here is the soln.
let the coin be at a depth 'x' cm ( that is also the depth of water in the cupwhich we have to find )
the apparent depth of the coin = (x-2) cm
refractive index= real depth / apparent depth
4/3 = x / (x-2)
solving it---> 3x= 4 (x-2)
3x = 4x- 8
x= 8 cm
