This is a simple application of volume conservation.
If a container of volume V is cut into two parts of volume V1 and V2 then v have V=V1+V2. Similarly here volume of gold+volume of quartz = volume of nugget.
Also mass/density=volume
So in the above question v get the ans as (1)
