Let us suppose that the nearest point be(x1,y1) . 1) differentiate and find the normal of Y^2=4X, (i mean normal slope= -dx/dy ) 2)(Y1 - 1)/(X1 - 2) = -dx/dy i suppose that should be able to solve that if you do..Y1 = 2 Answer will be 4 as far as i know
